RI TARGETS USD 33 BILLION IN US TRADE DEALS
The Indonesian government is aiming for 33 billion US dollars in bilateral trade agreements and commercial partnerships with the United States in 2026, as stated by Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto during talks with the US ASEAN Business Council. Positive momentum defines the current economic relationship, with bilateral trade between January and August 2026 reaching 32.34 billion US dollars, which represents an increase of 11.82 percent compared to the previous year and confirms the United States as the second largest export market for Indonesia. In addition, American foreign direct investment climbed to 3.4 billion US dollars across the first three quarters of 2026, overtaking the entire total from 2025 and positioning the United States as the fourth largest foreign investor in the country. To help reach the national ambition of eight percent annual economic growth by 2029, Indonesia is actively inviting American capital into high value sectors such as advanced manufacturing, digital infrastructure, renewable energy, and artificial intelligence. Minister Hartarto brought particular attention to the domestic semiconductor market, which is expected to rise from 5.08 billion US dollars in 2025 to 7.07 billion US dollars by 2030, presenting substantial commercial potential for American chipmakers. During the discussions, officials also reviewed global market challenges including excess manufacturing capacity and Section 301 tariff actions, while the Indonesian government affirmed its dedication to improving the domestic business climate and settling corporate difficulties through joint ministerial efforts.Source: https://en.antaranews.com/news/438263/ri-targets-us33-billion-in-us-trade-deals (ICE GIACARTA)
