PH NEEDS REFORMS TO SUSTAIN GROWTH

PHILIPPINE economic growth faces mounting pressure from elevated inflation, weak private investments and fragile household finances, economists warned on Thursday during The Manila Times Year-end Economic Forum. Titled “Beyond UMIC: Locking in on sustainable, equitable growth,” the economists called for reforms and stronger investment to sustain the country’s long-term growth. Michael Ricafort, chief economist at Rizal Commercial Banking Corp., highlighted the importance of economic reforms, fiscal discipline and transparency in strengthening the country’s growth prospects, while also pointing to challenges from slower economic expansion and the changing global business environment. He said the Philippines previously sustained economic growth of around 5 to 6 percent, but recent economic performance has weakened, underscoring the need to address structural constraints and improve the investment climate.   https://www.manilatimes.net/2026/10/30/business/top-business/ph-needs-reforms-to-sustain-growth/2457578   (ICE SINGAPORE)
