Moody’s upgrades Kazakhstan’s Food Contract Corporation to B1, outlook positiveMoody’s Ratings raised the corporate credit rating of Kazakhstan’s state-run Food Contract Corporation to B1 from B2, citing better cash flow and lower debt, and kept its outlook positive, the agency said.Moody’s said the change reflects the corporation’s improved operating cash flow and debt position in 2025. It credited the recovery to better corporate governance, including a shift to more conservative operating and financial policies, and to government support measures.Under its financial recovery program, the corporation’s principal debt fell 79%, from 200 billion tenge to 42 billion. In 2025 it posted a positive consolidated net profit of 492.4 million tenge, its first in three years. In 2024 it had a consolidated loss of 23.5 billion tenge.Moody’s said the positive outlook reflects its expectation that the corporation will stick to prudent operating and financial policies, keep cutting debt and maintain solid liquidity, with no weakening of government support. The corporation is part of the Agriculture Ministry’s structure. It was created in 1995 to maintain the state grain reserve, stabilize the domestic grain market and promote Kazakh grain exports, including by representing the country in export markets. (ICE ALMATY)
