HKICEC unveils first-ever global mobile exchange pavilion, connecting industry leaders across bordersHong Kong has taken a bold step onto the global mobile electronics stage with the launch of the Hong Kong International Communications Electronic Chamber’s (HKICEC) first-ever Global Mobile Exchange Pavilion – a landmark initiative bringing together industry leaders from across continents to forge new partnerships and unlock fresh commercial opportunities.Making its debut at the Global Sources Mobile Electronics Show from October 18 to 21, 2026, the expansive pavilion united nearly 60 industry leaders from mainland China, Hong Kong, India, Japan, the United Arab Emirates, the United States and the United Kingdom. As the exhibition’s largest themed pavilion in the mobile electronics sector, it emerged as a focal point for international business exchange, underscoring Hong Kong’s strategic role as a gateway connecting global markets. The pavilion marked a significant milestone for HKICEC, reinforcing its commitment to strengthening cross-border collaboration and injecting fresh momentum into the convergence of Hong Kong’s technology industry and international trade.A pioneering platform for global collaborationThe pavilion was officially inaugurated on October 18 at a grand opening ceremony attended by more than 100 political and business leaders, industry representatives, international exhibitors and media professionals. The launch established the pavilion as a pioneering business-to-business (B2B) platform dedicated exclusively to mobile communications equipment, creating a focused arena for manufacturers, suppliers and international buyers to connect, negotiate and explore strategic partnerships.Four days of business opportunities and technological heritageThroughout the four-day exhibition, the pavilion attracted a steady stream of visitors, with communications and electronics suppliers and overseas buyers arriving specifically to pursue business matchmaking, conduct negotiations and explore new commercial prospects.Beyond its role as a dynamic trading hub, the pavilion offered visitors a compelling journey through the evolution of mobile technology. A retrospective exhibition featuring 16 classic mobile phones traced the industry’s remarkable transformation, from the bulky, brick-like handsets of the early era to the iPhone 3GS, identified in the showcase as the first iPhone officially released in mainland China.Championing a more sustainable mobile ecosystemExtending the conversation beyond commercial transactions, HKICEC joined forces with Global Sources to co-host an international forum on October 19, exploring the theme “From New Devices to New Life: Building a Global Mobile Device Lifecycle Ecosystem”.Discussions spanned the global economic landscape, inventory management, environmental, social and governance (ESG) development, the circular economy for new and used devices, and the transformative potential of artificial intelligence. These conversations highlighted the growing importance of responsible resource management and innovative business models as the industry navigates an increasingly complex and sustainability-conscious global market. With more than 200 international representatives in attendance, the forum provided a valuable platform for exchanging expertise, identifying emerging opportunities and strengthening cross-border collaboration.Forging partnerships beyond the exhibition floorThe momentum continued with a high-profile networking banquet that brought together more than 500 industry leaders, VIPs and exhibitors. Designed to accelerate cross-border business alliances, the gathering enabled delegates to deepen relationships, exchange strategic insights and build on connections established throughout the exhibition. From high-level business negotiations to forward-looking sustainability discussions, HKICEC’s inaugural Global Mobile Exchange Pavilion delivered a multifaceted platform for industry engagement. Its successful debut signals a promising new chapter for the chamber as it seeks to connect markets, cultivate strategic partnerships and help shape the future of the global mobile communications and electronics industry.https://www.thestandard.com.hk/news/article/346518/ (ICE HONG KONG)
