JAKARTA AND TOKYO EXPLORE STRATEGIC COOPERATION IN CULTURE, CINEMA, AND GREEN Transport
The Jakarta Provincial Government is currently exploring strategic cooperation opportunities with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government in the cultural and public transportation sectors. This initiative emerged during a meeting between the Vice Governor of Jakarta, Rano Karno, and the Vice Governor of Tokyo, Tomohide Sato, in Tokyo. In the cultural sector, Jakarta focuses on historic area conservation, modern museum management powered by digital technology, and creative community empowerment through funding frameworks like the Arts Council Tokyo. Furthermore, in line with Jakarta’s vision to become a City of Cinema, this partnership aims to develop film facilities, support local filmmakers, and leverage cinema to promote regional tourism. In terms of transportation, the partnership focuses on enhancing water transit connectivity to the Thousand Islands (Kepulauan Seribu) to ensure safe, affordable, and intermodally integrated mobility. Beyond waterways, Jakarta aims to adopt Tokyo’s proven success in deploying eco-friendly public transit fleets, particularly electric and hydrogen-powered buses. This benchmark study and knowledge exchange will cover the evaluation of charging infrastructure, energy supply chains, fleet maintenance, and operational cost efficiency to match Jakarta's road route characteristics in pursuit of a sustainable urban transit system.Source: https://www.antaranews.com/berita/5815875/dki-jajaki-peluang-kerja-sama-dengan-tokyo-di-bidang-budaya (ICE GIACARTA)
