NIGERIA EYES AGRICULTURAL MODERNIZATION AND RESOURCE EXCHANGE WITH BANYUWANGI

A Nigerian business delegation visited Banyuwangi Regency in East Java to explore strategic trade and economic partnerships, focusing on the regency's agricultural strengths. During their two-day visit, the delegation toured key local production sites, including the Alas Malang coffee plantation in Kalibaru, dragon fruit farms in Purwoharjo, organic rice facilities, and the Glenmore sugar industry. Banyuwangi Regent Ipuk Fiestiandani stated that this initiative serves as a major gateway for local enterprises and MSMEs to access the export market in Nigeria. The delegation showed strong interest in local coffee and dragon fruit, even inviting Banyuwangi producers to help cultivate these crops in Nigeria, while also commending the waste management practices observed at the Balak waste processing facility.Ishmael Balogun, President of the Nigerian Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NICCI), emphasized that Nigeria remains Indonesia's largest trading partner in Africa, with established imports ranging from consumer goods and apparel to pharmaceuticals and electronics. Seeking to open new trade corridors, the chamber aims to leverage Banyuwangi’s resource management model across agriculture, fisheries, and tourism. Balogun expressed interest in broader bilateral collaboration, including agricultural modernization through technical knowledge sharing, aquaculture development, and green investment opportunities in clean energy.Source: https://www.antaranews.com/berita/5815963/delegasi-bisnis-nigeria-jajaki-kolaborasi-potensi-pertanian-banyuwangi (ICE GIACARTA)
