SKK MIGAS SEES INVESTMENT POTENTIAL ACROSS 128 INDONESIAN OIL AND GAS BASINS
Indonesia’s upstream oil and gas sector offers substantial investment opportunities across 128 sedimentary basins, according to SKK Migas (Indonesian Special Task Force for Upstream Oil and Gas Business Activities). Of these, only 20 basins are currently producing, while 43 discoveries in explored basins are available for development and 65 frontier basins remain open for exploration. Speaking at the 51st ASEAN Council on Petroleum and Energy (ASCOPE) in Bali, Rikky Rahmat Firdaus, Deputy for Exploration, Development, and Working Area Management at SKK Migas, highlighted these opportunities as key avenues for investors seeking exposure to Indonesia’s energy sector. Indonesia currently holds proven reserves of 2.3 billion barrels of oil and 35 trillion cubic feet of natural gas across 168 oil and gas blocks, providing a strong foundation for future upstream investment. To attract more investors, SKK Migas is improving the investment climate through risk-based fiscal incentives, transparent licensing procedures, and easier access to exploration data. The regulator aims to reduce uncertainty, broaden investor participation, and accelerate the conversion of exploration resources into commercial production.Source: https://indonesiabusinesspost.com/7675/business-and-investment/skk-migas-sees-investment-potential-across-128-indonesian-oil-and-gas-basins# (ICE GIACARTA)
