KAZAKHSTAN-OIL-OUTPUT-9M
Kazakhstan’s oil output falls 8.3% in January-SeptemberKazakhstan produced 69.4 million tonnes of oil in the first nine months of 2026, and the decline is holding back economic growth, National Economy Minister Serik Zhumangarin said. The figure is 8.3% lower than in the same period of 2025.“Kazakhstan’s economy is developing this year under a number of constraints,” Zhumangarin told a government meeting in Astana on Tuesday. “The first is lower oil production and a negative contribution from the oil sector to GDP growth.”Kazakhstan produced 61.7 million tonnes in January-August. The government said in September that it saw a gradual recovery in output. The Energy Ministry has revised its 2026 forecast several times. It first expected 100.5 million tonnes.Energy Minister Yerlan Akkenzhenov later cut the forecast to 98 million tonnes. He cited attacks on infrastructure of the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC), the main export route for Kazakh oil, in January, and an incident at the giant Tengiz field. Production there was suspended early in the year after transformers at a power plant caught fire.At the end of August, Akkenzhenov lowered the forecast again, to 96 million tonnes, because of continued drone attacks on the CPC throughout the year.Kazakhstan produced 99.6 million tonnes of oil in 2025.
