INDONESIA DRIVES STRATEGIC US INVESTMENT TIES TO ACCELERATE HIGH VALUE Manufacturing and Policy Predictability

At the 14th United States-Indonesia Investment Summit in Jakarta, Indonesian officials led by Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto and Trade Minister Budi Santoso actively promoted value-added investment opportunities to strengthen economic resilience. Citing solid macroeconomic indicators—including 3.28 percent inflation, a 7 percent surge in investment, and Rp368 trillion accumulated across 25 Special Economic Zones—Minister Airlangga outlined 2027 priority sectors centered on semiconductors, artificial intelligence, and digital infrastructure developments in the Batam-Bintan-Nongsa corridor. US foreign direct investment reached 1.72 billion USD in the first half of 2026, supported by a expanding trade surplus that saw Indonesian exports to the US rise to 15.85 billion USD over the same period.   To preserve investor confidence and streamline bilateral trade, both governments emphasized the full implementation of the Indonesia-US Agreement on Reciprocal Trade (ART). Minister Santoso confirmed ongoing regulatory refinements designed to eliminate trade barriers and resolve field challenges faced by international enterprises. Representatives from the American Chamber of Commerce in Indonesia (AmCham) welcomed the initiatives, noting that finalizing the ART and maintaining regulatory predictability are crucial steps to leverage Indonesia's large consumer market while mitigating policy risks for long-term investments.  Source: https://en.antaranews.com/news/434357/minister-encourages-value-added-investment-through-indonesia-us-ties?utm_source=chatgpt.com (ICE GIACARTA)
