DANANTARA TO BUILD TEXTILE BUSINESS AS INDONESIA REVIEWS IMPORT POLICIES
Indonesia’s sovereign wealth fund, Danantara, plans to enter the textile sector by building its own manufacturing facilities as part of efforts to revive domestic industry and create jobs. According to Dony Oskaria, Chief Operating Officer of BPI Danantara, the agency is open to collaborating with private companies while investing directly in textile production, reflecting the government’s strategy to strengthen manufacturing as a key pillar of economic growth. The initiative comes as the government reviews policies affecting the competitiveness of local manufacturers, including import regulations and post-border supervision of used goods imports. Dony Oskaria argued that overly liberal import policies have weakened domestic industries and reduced their competitiveness. Meanwhile, Rosan Perkasa Roeslani, CEO of Danantara, said the agency is also considering investing in existing textile companies with potential for modernization, particularly through upgrades in machinery and technology, while evaluating both employment creation and investment returns.Source: https://indonesiabusinesspost.com/7540/national-resilience/danantara-to-build-textile-business-as-indonesia-reviews-import-policies (ICE GIACARTA)
