INDONESIA TARGETS OECD ACCESSION WITHIN TWO YEARS
Indonesia aims to complete its accession to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) within two years, according to Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto. Speaking at the 14th United States-Indonesia Investment Summit, he said that Indonesia has already submitted nearly 20 of the 24 required chapters, representing around 75–80 percent of the accession process. Hartarto also called for support from the United States to help Indonesia achieve its target of becoming an OECD member. The government had previously estimated that the technical review process could take three to four years. Indonesia has received 20 OECD questionnaires and undergone fact-finding missions focusing on environmental policy and public governance. During discussions with OECD Secretary-General Mathias Cormann in Paris, Hartarto highlighted positive results from Indonesia’s first accession review, which found that approximately 60 percent of the country’s environmental policies are already aligned with OECD legal instruments. He reaffirmed Indonesia’s commitment to adopting OECD recommendations and strengthening action plans in areas such as energy, climate change, environmental information, and transboundary pollution.Source: https://en.antaranews.com/news/434313/indonesia-targets-oecd-accession-within-two-years?utm_source=chatgpt.com (ICE GIACARTA)
