KAZAKHSTAN-CHINA-TOKAYEV-PROGRAM

Tokayev proposes Kazakh-Chinese ‘Common History Destiny’ programPresident Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has proposed launching a Kazakh-Chinese program called "Common History Destiny. Designed and Made in Both China and Kazakhstan," the presidential press service said."I propose launching the Kazakh-Chinese program 'Common History Destiny. Designed and Made in Both China and Kazakhstan.' The government, together with Chinese partners, might form a pool of promising projects and promptly begin implementing them," Tokayev was quoted as saying Friday at the Kazakhstan-China Investment Forum in Almaty. The president highlighted industrial cooperation, noting that 260 major joint projects worth over $62 billion are already in the pipeline."With the participation of Chinese companies, an automotive cluster is being developed in Almaty, a silicon production facility is being built in Karaganda region, and projects in metallurgy, petrochemicals and energy storage systems are underway. The first projects to optimize and restore low-yield oil wells are being launched. In the Aktobe region, a special industrial zone is being created on a pilot basis with Chinese company Jinyi Holding Group that will operate in line with international standards," the president said.Tokayev also said agreements in the agricultural sector are taking concrete shape."In particular, I would highlight the anchor projects of Lihua, Fufeng and Dalian Hesheng Holdings to create a vertically integrated cotton-textile cluster and to deepen corn and grain processing. This is a solid foundation for taking our partnership to a new level — from implementing individual investment projects to building full-scale production ecosystems with joint access to the markets of Central Asia, the Eurasian Economic Union, the South Caucasus and Europe," the president said.Tokayev named mining and metals as another cooperation priority, noting Kazakhstan's substantial reserves of uranium, copper, gold, coal, critical minerals and rare earths. The president also focused on digitalization, saying Kazakhstan is open to working with all the world's leading technology hubs."This year, Kazakhstan became a founding member of the World Organization for Cooperation in Artificial Intelligence, thereby joining a new international platform for technological collaboration. This initiative was launched by Chinese President Xi Jinping," Tokayev said.He added that Kazakhstan is interested in technology transfer and in creating joint engineering and research centers."We are paying great attention to training a new generation of specialists. We plan to open the first Kazakh-Chinese artificial intelligence school in our capital. Alatau City is becoming a vivid embodiment of our fruitful technological partnership. This large-scale project is set to become a powerful pole of business activity between China, Central Asia and Europe," Tokayev said. (ICE ALMATY)
