MRT JAKARTA TARGETS SOUTHEAST ASIAN INVESTORS FOR UPCOMING TOD PROJECTS

Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) Jakarta is opening Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) investment opportunities to foreign investors as it seeks additional funding for future infrastructure projects. The initiative was marked by the 2026 TOD Investment Forum in Singapore, organized in collaboration with the Indonesia Investment Centre (IIPC). According to MRT Jakarta Property Management Division Head M. Iqbal Bimo Arifianto, the company has so far relied on its own funding for TOD development but is now targeting investors from Singapore and across Southeast Asia, with the possibility of expanding outreach to other countries. The planned cooperation is expected to provide not only capital but also knowledge transfer in managing world-class transit hubs. MRT Jakarta is considering joint venture or joint operation schemes because ownership of TOD land remains with local or central government entities. Under this model, MRT Jakarta and related regional state-owned enterprises would hold stakes in project management while complying with existing regulations. The initiative supports MRT Jakarta’s broader expansion plans, as the city continues to strengthen its integrated public transportation network connecting MRT, LRT, TransJakarta, Trans Jabodetabek, and commuter rail services.Source: https://rri.co.id/en/business/2759770/mrt-jakarta-targets-southeast-asian-investors-for-upcoming-tod-projects (ICE GIACARTA)
