UAE LEADS GCC RETAIL MARKET GROWTH TOWARD $129.5 BILLION BY 2030
According to a report by Alpen Capital, UAE retail sales are projected to reach $129.5 billion by 2030, driven by a region-leading compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 3.6% between 2025 and 2030. Overall GCC retail sales are expected to expand from $329.6 billion to $386.9 billion in the same period, with Saudi Arabia retaining the largest total market share at $166.6 billion. Regional sector performance will be spearheaded by food retail (4.1% CAGR) over non-food segments (2.7% CAGR), alongside a 4.8% CAGR in major duty-free airport retail. To support this trajectory, total organized retail space across the GCC is set to expand to 27 million square meters by 2030, while retailers increasingly adapt to geopolitical and supply chain pressures by adopting AI analytics, expanding quick-commerce and private-label options, and leveraging physical stores as omnichannel fulfillment hubs.
