ECONOMY MINISTRY MAKES ELECTRONIC REGISTRATION MANDATORY FOR IMPORTERS and exporters

The Minister of Economy and Trade in the Government of National Unity has approved mandatory registration for importers, exporters and foreign companies supplying the Libyan market on the Unified Digital Trade System (PTS), operated by the Libya Trade Network, as part of efforts to regulate foreign trade and digitize its procedures. The system provides a registration certificate containing an electronic identification number (PTS Code), with companies granted a transitional period until the end of 2026 to complete their registration. The requirement will take effect at the beginning of January 2027 for businesses whose annual transactions or shipments are worth $1 million or more. From March 31, it will be expanded to include businesses whose annual transactions or exports to Libya exceed $100,000.The Libya Trade Network will electronically connect the system with banks, customs authorities, ports, free zones, chambers of commerce and regulatory bodies, with the aim of unifying trade data and accelerating verification, customs clearance and the movement of shipments.
