EBRD OPENS NEW OFFICE IN JORDAN, AIMS TO DOUBLE INVESTMENTS
The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has inaugurated its new office in Amman, marking a new phase in its operations in Jordan. The Bank’s cumulative investments in Jordan have reached €2.468 billion across 91 projects since it began operating in the Kingdom in 2012. Its current project portfolio in Jordan was valued at €1.16 billion as of the end of August. The opening ceremony, held at the Bank’s new offices in Abdali, was attended by Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Zeina Toukan, EBRD Managing Director for the Southern and Eastern Mediterranean (SEMED) region Mark Davis, and EBRD Regional Director for the Eastern Mediterranean Hashem Abdel-Hakim. The inauguration coincides with a new phase for the EBRD’s operations in the Eastern Mediterranean. Earlier this month, Abdel-Hakim assumed the position of Regional Director for the Eastern Mediterranean, overseeing the Bank’s operations in Jordan, Iraq, Lebanon, the West Bank, and the Gaza Strip.
