57% OF EUROPEAN FIRMS EYE INDONESIAN EXPANSION AMID ASEAN SUPPLY CHAIN Shift

The EU-ASEAN Business Sentiment Survey 2026 highlights Indonesia as a top expansion target for European businesses in Southeast Asia, with 57% of existing corporate respondents planning to expand operations in the country over the next five years and 32% of potential entrants considering market entry. Driven by geopolitical disruptions, trade uncertainty, and a shift toward supply-chain diversification, 78% of European firms expect overall trade and investment in ASEAN to rise. Indonesia’s strong appeal is anchored by its large domestic market, competitive production costs, strategic regional positioning, and growing importance to global corporate revenue.Despite this optimistic investment outlook, European companies face ongoing operational challenges, particularly concerning regulatory fragmentation and non-tariff trade barriers. About 73% of survey respondents noted significant obstacles to using regional supply chains efficiently, while only 12% viewed ASEAN customs procedures as fast and effective. With 87% of businesses considering ASEAN economic integration crucial to their commercial success, the findings emphasize Indonesia's need to complement rising investor interest with enhanced regulatory certainty and greater ease of doing business.Source: https://indonesiabusinesspost.com/7307/asean/indonesia-top-choice-for-eu-firms-expansion-in-southeast-asia (ICE GIACARTA)
