The Papua provincial government and the British Embassy in Indonesia have launched the Papua Sustainable Cocoa Roadmap in Nambon Village, Jayapura District. According to Papua Vice Governor Aryoko Rumaropen, the roadmap is designed to guide cocoa sector development by balancing productivity, farmer welfare, economic growth, and environmental sustainability. He stressed that cocoa development should provide real benefits for local farmers and communities, with strong collaboration among government agencies, farmers, communities, and development partners as a key requirement for long-term success. Meanwhile, British Ambassador to Indonesia Dominic Jermey described the roadmap as an important step toward building a more sustainable and resilient cocoa industry in Papua. He highlighted its potential to improve farmers’ livelihoods and create new economic opportunities while promoting environmentally responsible practices.
