MINISTRY OF AGRICULTURE PRAISES KOPERASI LPER AND JAPFA COLLABORATION AS MODEL for National Poultry Industry
The Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan) is actively promoting collaboration between livestock cooperatives and breeding companies to strengthen Indonesia's national poultry industry. A key highlight of this effort is the partnership between Koperasi LPER and PT Japfa Comfeed Indonesia Tbk (JAPFA) in Gunungkidul, which has achieved a production milestone of one million broiler chickens. Officials emphasized that this synergy provides smallholder farmers with essential access to quality Day-Old Chicks (DOC), production inputs, technological guidance, and broader market integration in line with Ministry regulations. Beyond seed supply, the initiative focuses on building an integrated supply chain from upstream to downstream operations. JAPFA supports the cooperative by providing technical assistance and utilizing its Poultry Slaughterhouses (RPHU) to absorb farmers' production, ensuring market certainty and food sovereignty. With Koperasi LPER operating across 17 provinces, the government hopes this sustainable collaboration model will be replicated in other regions to boost efficiency, competitiveness, and the overall welfare of independent poultry farmers.
