INDONESIA PUSHES COFFEE INDUSTRY TO EXPAND IN GLOBAL MARKETS
Indonesia is pushing to expand its coffee industry in global markets by leveraging its position as the world's fourth-largest coffee producer, with annual output of around 780,000 tons. According to Rifki Ismal, Deputy Head of Bank Indonesia's East Java Representative Office, East Java leads coffee production in Java with 53,000 tons per year, while Central and West Java each produce about 25,000 tons. The government sees coffee exports as a key opportunity to strengthen Indonesia's international competitiveness while supporting local MSMEs that dominate the sector. To support this goal, Bank Indonesia organized the 2026 Java Coffee, Flavors and Festival (JCFF) in Surabaya, bringing together coffee businesses, buyers, and investors through business matching and coaching programs. The event featured more than 60 MSMEs, including 41 coffee enterprises, and aimed to exceed last year's achievement of Rp107 billion in transactions and 130,000 visitors. The festival is expected to help Indonesian coffee producers expand export opportunities and increase the value of local coffee products in international markets.Source: https://rri.co.id/en/business/2717238/indonesia-pushes-coffee-industry-to-expand-in-global-markets (ICE GIACARTA)
