Kazakhstan expects above-average grain harvest as weather holds - ministryKazakhstan expects this year's grain harvest to exceed the long-term average if favorable weather continues through the harvest campaign,  Deputy Minister of Agriculture Nazgul Khatepova told Interfax-Kazakhstan."Provided that weather conditions remain favorable during the harvest campaign, we expect a yield above the long-term average. More precise figures will be available closer to the completion of the harvest," Khatepova said in response to a query.She noted that various factors, including climatic conditions and the use of modern agricultural technologies, influence the final harvest volume.As of Sept 7, the country had harvested 9 million hectares of grains and pulses, with a threshed volume of 12.6 million tonnes. Oilseed crops had been harvested from 762,100 hectares, yielding 753,600 tonnes, Khatepova said.The total 2026 crop area in Kazakhstan stands at 24.2 million hectares, of which 15.6 million hectares are sown to grains and pulses.In 2025, Kazakhstan increased grain production by 2% year-on-year to 27 million tonnes, with yields rising to 17 quintals per hectare from 16 quintals per hectare in 2024.
