Indonesia is seeking to finalize a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) by the end of 2026, with negotiations already about 90% complete. The agreement is expected to boost exports, attract investment, strengthen supply-chain resilience, and support food security and industrial development. Trade between Indonesia and GCC countries reached US$17 billion in 2025, and the government expects closer ties, particularly with Saudi Arabia, to increase Indonesia’s exports by more than 17%. Key exports include automotive products, palm oil, and jewelry. Beyond trade, the FTA is intended to deepen economic cooperation through investment and technology transfer, especially in renewable energy and the energy transition. Indonesia aims to leverage its large domestic market, manufacturing capacity, and renewable energy potential, while GCC countries contribute capital and investment capabilities.
