INDONESIA AND PHILIPPINES UNLOCK NEW ASEAN MARKET GROWTH
Indonesia’s Ministry of Creative Economy and the Philippine Embassy in Jakarta have agreed to deepen cooperation in the creative economy sector through cross-border collaboration, talent exchange, and market expansion across Southeast Asia. Indonesia's Creative Economy Minister Teuku Riefky Harsya said both countries have complementary strengths and can work together to develop commercialized cultural products, while also giving creative businesses broader access to ASEAN markets. A notable example is the Batik-Barong initiative, which combines Indonesia’s batik craftsmanship with the Philippines’ traditional Barong attire to create products with regional and international market potential. Beyond product development, the two countries plan to promote creative industries through exchanges, pop-up exhibitions, and joint marketing activities. At the regional level, Indonesia supports the Philippines’ proposal to establish the ASEAN Center of Excellence for Creative Industries (ACE-CI) in Manila during its 2026 ASEAN chairmanship, aiming to strengthen collaboration among ASEAN creative sectors. Both nations also view upcoming events such as the 2026 World Conference on Creative Economy (WCCE) in Jakarta as an opportunity to further expand cooperation, positioning the creative economy as a new driver of ASEAN growth and opening greater opportunities for creative entrepreneurs across the region.Source: https://www.metrotvnews.com/read/b3JC5QqJ-indonesia-and-philippines-unlock-new-asean-market-growth-with-cross-border-creative-push (ICE GIACARTA)
