The Gunungkidul Regency Government in Yogyakarta is exploring a partnership with South Korea to send local workers for seasonal employment in agriculture and fisheries. Under a proposed government to government or local government agreement, South Korea seeks to recruit 100 initial seasonal workers for eight month contracts paying approximately Rp30 million per month. Regent Endah Subekti Kuntariningsih stated that the program targets high school and vocational graduates who are not pursuing higher education, helping them gain international experience while supporting local economic welfare.
