INDONESIA: CENTRAL JAVA SEES STRONG MANUFACTURING INVESTMENT MOMENTUM
Central Java continues to attract strong manufacturing investment, with land occupancy in both the Kendal Special Economic Zone (SEZ) and Batang Integrated Industrial Zone (KITB) reaching 100%. According to Coordinating Economic Affairs Ministry Secretary Susiwijono Moegiarso, investor demand remains high, prompting plans to expand both industrial zones. The province’s manufacturing sector is a key growth driver, contributing 33.18% of regional economic output and supporting Central Java’s 5.80% economic growth in the first half of 2026. Investment realization in Central Java reached IDR 48.54 trillion (about USD 2.73 billion) during the first half of 2026, nearly half of the province’s annual target. Foreign direct investment accounted for IDR 25.92 trillion, while domestic investment contributed IDR 22.62 trillion. Semarang, Kendal, Batang, Temanggung, and Demak recorded the highest investment inflows. While the region offers significant investment potential, Susiwijono emphasized the need for greater certainty and support for investors, noting that challenges extend beyond licensing issues. The central government has therefore established consultation mechanisms to help investors and local governments resolve operational and regulatory obstacles.Source: https://rri.co.id/en/business/2691831/central-java-sees-strong-manufacturing-investment-momentum (ICE GIACARTA)
