EU INVESTORS INTERESTED IN INDONESIA'S RENEWABLE ENERGY & EV SECTOR

European Union investors are showing strong interest in Indonesia as the Indonesia-EU Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IEU-CEPA) moves through the ratification process. According to Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, the most attractive sectors for European investors include renewable energy, digital industries and cybersecurity, agriculture, and electric vehicle (EV) downstream industries. The Indonesian government aims to implement the IEU-CEPA in 2027 to further strengthen trade and investment cooperation. Bilateral trade between Indonesia and the EU reached USD 31.9 billion in 2025, while EU investments in Indonesia totaled USD 13.6 billion over the last five years.  Indonesian Employers' Association (APINDO) Chairwoman Shinta Widjaja Kamdani added that fisheries, agriculture, and healthcare are also promising sectors for European investment. She emphasized that the IEU-CEPA should not only boost trade but also encourage new investments and infrastructure development projects in Indonesia. However, she noted that improving the ease of doing business, particularly by streamlining licensing processes and reducing investment barriers, will be crucial to attracting more European investors in the future.Source: https://www.metrotvnews.com/read/koGCa0DV-investor-uni-eropa-minati-sektor-ebt-hingga-kendaraan-listrik-di-indonesia (ICE GIACARTA)
