Kazakhstan's 2027 EAEU import quotas set at 21,000 tonnes beef, 140,000 tonnes poultryThe Eurasian Economic Commission has set tariff quotas for imports of meat and dairy whey into the Eurasian Economic Union for 2027, the EEC's trade division announced Tuesday.Under the quotas approved by the EEC's board, Kazakhstan will receive 21,000 tonnes of beef and 140,000 tonnes of poultry meat and offal. Russia secured the largest beef quota at 570,000 tonnes, followed by Armenia with 8,000 tonnes and Kyrgyzstan with 5,000 tonnes. Pork quotas were set at 14,000 tonnes for Armenia, 20,000 tonnes for Belarus and 2,000 tonnes for Kyrgyzstan.Other poultry allocations include 45,000 tonnes for Armenia, 10,900 tonnes for Belarus, 58,000 tonnes for Kyrgyzstan and 364,000 tonnes for Russia, the EEC's trade division said in a statement.A 15,000-tonne tariff quota for dairy whey imports was also established for Russia.The EEC sets quotas on select agricultural imports from non-EAEU countries under the union's founding treaty, taking into account member states' domestic supply-demand balances and World Trade Organization commitments, the commission noted. For Kazakhstan and Russia, the 2027 quotas match the volumes spelled out in their respective WTO accession protocols. For Armenia, Belarus and Kyrgyzstan, quotas were capped at the gap between domestic consumption and production, reflecting requests from each country. (ICE ALMATY)
