Kazakhstan considers export duties on grains and oilseedsKazakhstan is considering introducing export customs duties on certain grains and oilseeds, Kazakh Grain Union head of analytics Yevgeniy Karabanov said."Government agencies are currently considering export duties on several grain crops, including wheat and barley, as well as oilseeds such as flaxseed and rapeseed," Karabanov wrote on his Telegram channel Monday.He said grain exports accelerated last week, but buyers remain cautious about purchasing large volumes amid market volatility."With a good harvest in southern Russia and the Volga region, continued escalation in the Black Sea and a weakening ruble, Russian wheat prices continue to fall, and offers of imported Russian wheat are increasing in Kazakhstan and Central Asian markets. Russian wheat has already started arriving in Kazakhstan and Central Asian countries," Karabanov said.Export prices for barley continued to decline last week across all destinations, he said. Flaxseed prices also continued to fall both domestically and for export last week."The current decline in flaxseed prices is due to seasonal factors. Logistics for delivering Kazakh flax to the EU will be complicated by export problems through Azov-Black Sea ports and the rerouting of Russian grain exports through Baltic ports.
