BUSINESS ACTIVITY IN UKRAINE GROWS FOR A SECOND CONSECUTIVE MONTH.

Ukraine’s business activity recovery index rose for a second straight month in July, reaching -0.11, up from -0.14 in June, the Institute for Economic Research and Policy Consulting reported.“This happened mainly due to a decrease in the share of enterprises whose business activity is worse than last year. Instead, the share of enterprises that observed an improvement in business activity or did not experience any changes at all increased only slightly,” the institute’s analysts said.By business size, the index stood at -0.2 for micro-enterprises, -0.15 to -0.1 for small and medium-sized businesses, and -0.1 for large companies.“The survey took place in the last week of July, when the escalation of Russian attacks on the rear continued, and significant destruction of warehouses and other business infrastructure was observed. But we do not yet see the direct impact — probably the consequences of the attacks will be reflected in the next monthly surveys,” analysts said.Currently, 64% of enterprises are operating at 75-100% of capacity, and another 21% are running at 50-74% of pre-war levels. The share of enterprises reporting an increase in current exports rose from 27.4% to 29.5%.The average order backlog stands at 2.9 months. The share of enterprises with a 3-5-month order portfolio increased from 19% to 25%, driven by a drop in the share of companies with 1-2-month order backlogs, from 37% to 31%. Only 4% of enterprises currently have order backlogs of 12 months or more.https://ubn.news/business-activity-in-ukraine-grows-for-a-second-consecutive-month/ (ICE KIEV)
