FOUR $120-MILLION AGREEMENTS SIGNED TO IMPLEMENT KEY PROJECTS NEAR BAPTISM SITE

Four agreements were signed at the Prime Ministry on Wednesday, under the patronage of Prime Minister Jafar Hassan, to implement key projects under the national development plan for the lands adjacent to the Baptism Site, as part of preparations to mark the 2,000th anniversary of the Baptism of Jesus Christ in 2030. The agreements cover a package of projects with a combined estimated cost of $120 million on approximately 1,400 dunums of land adjacent to the Baptism Site. They include the design of a Baptism Museum at a cost of $50 million, the design and development of an integrated pilgrims and visitors’ village at around $40 million, infrastructure works worth $27 million, and the development of a green corridor estimated at $3 million. The initiative includes developing religious programs and narratives for the occasion, promoting Christian pilgrimage, raising the international profile of the Baptism Site and other religious sites in Jordan, and improving infrastructure and services for pilgrims and visitors.
