INDONESIA AND CHINA TO DEVELOP INDUSTRIAL ESTATE IN MADURA

Indonesia and China have signed agreements to advance the Wiraraja Madura Industrial Estate in Bangkalan, East Java, under the Two Countries Twin Parks framework. The cooperation includes an MoU between PT Wiraraja Madura International and the Guangzhou Zhanjiang Industrial Transfer Cooperation Park Management Committee, as well as the estate’s entry into the Guangdong-ASEAN Industrial Park Alliance. The initiative aims to strengthen industrial cooperation, attract investment, and establish Madura as a new hub for heavy industry and petrochemicals, complementing the Gresik Industrial Zone. Coordinating Minister Airlangga Hartarto emphasized that the project will deepen Indonesia–China economic ties, supported by a US$50 billion Bilateral Currency Swap Arrangement to expand local currency trade settlements. Planned Chinese industrial clusters include chocolate, mattress, textile, and yarn manufacturing. The estate is being designed as an integrated manufacturing center with logistics and green energy, expected to drive technology transfer, boost domestic capacity, and create new growth engines for East Java. Trade and investment between Zhanjiang and Indonesia have already grown, with RMB2.461 billion in trade in 2025 and US$370 million invested across 12 projects.Source: https://indonesiabusinesspost.com/7103/business-and-investment/indonesia-and-china-to-develop-industrial-estate-in-madura (ICE GIACARTA)
