SEZS DRAW $1.8 BILLION IN INVESTMENT AS INDONESIA EXPANDS INDUSTRIAL HUBS

Indonesia's Special Economic Zones (SEZs) attracted IDR 32 trillion (US$1.8 billion) in investment during the first half of 2026, with 75% coming from foreign investors (IDR 24 trillion) and IDR 8 trillion from domestic investors. These investments generated 34,162 new jobs, reflecting strong investor confidence in Indonesia's SEZ program. Since its launch in 2012, SEZs have accumulated IDR 368 trillion (US$20.4 billion) in investments from 444 companies, creating more than 283,000 jobs. The government is expanding SEZs to support manufacturing, digital infrastructure, tourism, and education. Key projects include the Galang Batang SEZ's integrated aluminum value chain, digital connectivity initiatives such as the Nongsa–Changi submarine cable, and major new investments in melamine production, palm oil processing, paper packaging, and green energy. Officials emphasize that regulatory certainty, efficient problem-solving, and strong government-business collaboration are essential for maintaining investor confidence and sustaining long-term growth.Source: https://jakartaglobe.id/business/sezs-draw-18-billion-in-investment-as-indonesia-expands-industrial-hubs (ICE GIACARTA)
