INDONESIA RAISES COCOA EXPORT BENCHMARK ON SUPPLY CRUNCH

Indonesia has raised its August 2026 export reference and benchmark prices for cocoa beans following a surge in global cocoa prices caused by supply disruptions in West Africa. The Trade Ministry set the cocoa bean reference price at US$5,424.96 per metric ton, up US$1,455.41 (36.66%) from July, while the export benchmark price increased to US$5,064 per metric ton, a rise of US$1,418 (38.90%). The increase reflects tighter cocoa supplies due to adverse weather, pest attacks, El Niño-related production declines, and higher international logistics costs. Despite the higher prices, Indonesia will maintain its 7.5% cocoa bean export duty and export levy throughout August. The ministry also reported mixed movements in forestry product benchmark prices. Pine resin prices rose to US$1,013 per metric ton, while several wood products recorded gains. However, prices declined for plantation veneer, wood chips, and certain processed timber products, reflecting weaker demand in those segments. The updated pricing framework is governed by Trade Ministerial Decree No. 1667 of 2026.Source: https://en.antaranews.com/news/425067/indonesia-raises-cocoa-export-benchmark-on-supply-crunch?utm_source=antaranews&utm_medium=mobile&utm_campaign=latest_category (ICE GIACARTA)
