UAE ECONOMIC REBOUND DRIVEN BY HYDROCARBON ACCELERATION AND STRONG POLICY BUFFER
According to a July 2026 IMF report, the UAE economy is set to rebound in the second half of 2026, driven by recovering export channels and accelerating hydrocarbon output following its official exit from OPEC/OPEC+ in May 2026 to gain greater supply flexibility. While overall 2026 GDP and non-oil sectors (such as tourism, transport, and real estate) experienced a slowdown in the first half due to regional geopolitical tensions and high comparison bases from 2025, robust policy responses, fiscal surpluses, low public debt, and a highly capitalized banking system have contained the shock. With inflation expected to ease over the medium term and strategic trade partnerships continuing to support cargo diversification, the IMF projects these strong economic fundamentals and rising oil volumes will pave the way for a full growth expansion in 2027.
