INDONESIA BOOSTS PACKAGING INDUSTRY THROUGH QUALITY CERTIFICATION

Indonesia’s Minister of Industry, Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, emphasized that improving the competitiveness of Indonesia’s packaging industry requires more than innovation and technology. He said companies must also meet recognized quality, safety, and certification standards to build market trust, expand trade opportunities, and strengthen Indonesia’s position in global supply chains. The minister noted that modern packaging is no longer focused solely on appearance and product protection, but must also comply with increasingly strict regulations, including consumer demands for product safety and halal certification. To support these goals, the Ministry of Industry’s Center for Standardization and Industrial Services for Chemicals, Pharmaceuticals, and Packaging (BBSPJIKFK) organized a webinar on improving packaging quality and competitiveness through certification, featuring experts from the Halal Product Assurance Agency (BPJPH). Industry officials highlighted that standardization and certification are strategic tools for enhancing product quality, safety, efficiency, and consumer confidence. According to the Head of Industrial Standardization and Policy Services (BSKJI), Emmy Suryandari, these measures are essential for accelerating the transformation of Indonesia’s manufacturing sector into a more competitive, sustainable, and globally oriented industry.Source: https://rri.co.id/en/business/2573609/indonesia-boosts-packaging-industry-through-quality-certification (ICE GIACARTA)
