DANANTARA ADVANCES US$12.5 BLN INDUSTRIAL PROJECTS ACROSS METALS, ENERGY, FOOD
Indonesia’s sovereign wealth fund, Danantara, is accelerating 26 downstream industrial projects worth Rp 225 trillion (US$12.5 billion), aiming to create nearly 38,000 jobs while boosting domestic processing of natural resources. These projects span strategic sectors such as aluminum, stainless steel, and copper smelters, alongside renewable aviation fuel, bioethanol, palm oil and coconut processing, and integrated poultry farming. According to COO Dony Oskaria, the initiative is designed not only to attract investment but also to stimulate regional economies and ensure that more value from Indonesia’s natural resources is retained domestically. The program’s first phase, launched in February, involved six projects across 13 locations with Rp 109 trillion in investment, generating over 11,000 jobs. The second phase, rolled out in April, added 10 priority projects across 13 locations with Rp 116 trillion in investment and is expected to create more than 26,000 jobs. Oskaria emphasized that the success of Indonesia’s downstream industrialization strategy should be measured by its broader economic and social impact, not just capital inflows. By focusing on value-added processing, the government aims to reduce reliance on raw commodity exports and strengthen the country’s industrial base. This aligns with Indonesia’s broader strategy to enhance economic resilience, diversify industries, and ensure communities benefit directly from industrial growth.Source: https://jakartaglobe.id/business/danantara-advances-125-billion-industrial-projects-across-metals-energy-food (ICE GIACARTA)
