INDONESIA'S INDUSTRIAL SEZS SEEK EXPANSION,INVESTMENT PIPELINE REACHES RP846 TLN

Indonesia’s manufacturing-focused Special Economic Zones (SEZs) are planning major expansions as industrial land in Gresik, Kendal, and Galang Batang approaches full occupancy. The government is preparing additional land to accommodate a potential Rp846 trillion (US$52 billion) investment pipeline, much of which is expected to come from the manufacturing sector. If approved, the expansions could roughly double the size of the existing industrial estates, reflecting strong investor confidence in Indonesia despite ongoing global economic uncertainty. Each SEZ supports different industries: Gresik focuses on downstream metals, chemicals, and industrial processing; Kendal hosts labor-intensive sectors such as textiles, furniture, electronics, automotive components, and consumer goods; while Galang Batang specializes in bauxite processing and downstream aluminum production. In addition to industrial zones, Indonesia is also expanding service-oriented SEZs such as Singhasari, which is being developed as an international education hub through partnerships with institutions including King’s College London and the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore. The government expects these developments to enhance Indonesia’s investment competitiveness and support long-term economic growth.Source: https://indonesiabusinesspost.com/6847/business-and-investment/industrial-sezs-seek-expansion-as-investment-pipeline-reaches-rp846-trillion (ICE GIACARTA)
