Indonesia’s Ministry of Villages and Development of Disadvantaged Regions is working with the World Bank to prepare the implementation of the Integrated Green Economy and Food Self-Sufficiency (Sehati) program in Banyumas, Central Java. As part of the preparation process, officials met with local government leaders and visited villages to gather data on village institutions, financial management, and procurement systems. The Sehati program, backed by approximately US$600 million in funding, will classify participating villages according to their institutional capacity, financial management quality, and readiness for implementation. The program is scheduled to run from 2027 to 2031. The Sehati initiative aims to strengthen food security, promote a green economy, and empower rural communities while supporting Indonesia’s village-based economic growth agenda. Developed jointly by the World Bank and several Indonesian ministries, the program is expected to reach around 7,000 developing and advanced villages nationwide. In Banyumas, about 20 villages are anticipated to benefit through annual incentives of Rp500 million, training programs, and infrastructure support.
