UKRAINE PREPARES OVER 1.8 GW OF RESERVE POWER CAPACITY AHEAD OF WINTER
The reserve capacity consists mainly of small gas-fired power plants that are being installed across Ukraine’s regions. These facilities are designed to provide electricity to critical infrastructure, businesses, and residential areas in the event of accidents or damage to major energy facilities. The largest share of the new capacity has been created in the Kyiv and Cherkasy regions. Over the past three and a half months alone, Ukraine has commissioned new installations with a combined capacity of nearly 339 MW. Construction is also underway on almost an 250 additional facilities, most of which are expected to be launched before winter begins.Meanwhile, the Kyiv City Council plans to approve funding for the Kyiv Resilience Plan. The financing includes a ₴2.5B loan from state-owned Oschadbank and a €50M EBRD loan to Kyivteploenergo for the construction of three gas-fired piston units. The government said it is supporting the capital’s winter preparations on a 50/50 co-financing basis and has already allocated nearly ₴3B for resilience measures. The funds will be used to protect infrastructure facilities, build distributed thermal generation, and create backup heat supply sources. Separately, ₴4B has been allocated for preparatory work through the State Agency for Restoration and Infrastructure Development.Fonte: https://ubn.news/ukraine-prepares-over-1-8-gw-of-reserve-power-capacity-ahead-of-winter/ (ICE KIEV)
