EXPORTS UP 15% DESPITE GLOBAL HEADWINDS: COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY MINISTER

India's merchandise exports increased about 15% year-on-year between April-June 14 despite global economic uncertainties, commerce and industry minister Piyush Goyal said on Sunday.India's exports increased 18% to scale a six-month high of $45.2 billion in May, while the trade deficit widened to $ 28.21 billion. During April-May, exports went up 16.09% to $88.91 billion and imports increased 15.14% to $145.35 billion. The trade deficit stood at $ 56.44 billion during the period.The commerce ministry will formally release trade data for June on July 15. (ICE NEW DELHI)
