IMF: JORDAN’S ECONOMY REMAINS RESILIENT, REFORM PROGRAM ON TRACK

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) said Jordan’s economy continues to demonstrate resilience despite regional challenges, with the government’s economic reform program remaining on track. According to the IMF’s fifth review of the Extended Fund Facility (EFF), economic activity remained resilient throughout 2025, supported by strong domestic demand, improved sector performance, low inflation, and comfortable foreign reserve levels. The IMF said Jordan met all quantitative performance targets by the end of 2025 and most indicative targets through March 2026, reflecting continued progress on reforms. However, the IMF noted that the regional war has weighed on the economy through weaker tourism and trade, higher oil prices, and rising electricity generation costs, prompting a downward revision of its growth forecast. The Fund now expects Jordan’s economy to grow by 2.7% in 2026, down from its previous forecast of 2.9%, before accelerating to 3.1% in 2027 as reforms continue and investment projects move forward.
