INDONESIA EYES GLOBAL MARKETS FOR TRANSMIGRATION PRODUCTS
The Transmigration Ministry of Indonesia has committed to expanding exports from Indonesia’s transmigration areas through strategic partnerships, highlighting the significant potential of agricultural, fishery, and horticultural products to compete in global markets. Deputy Minister Viva Yoga Mauladi noted that these regions produce high-quality commodities such as rice, corn, horticultural goods, and fisheries products, including blue swimming crab, which is already exported to the United States. The ministry aims to strengthen downstream processing, industrialization, and community empowerment, while improving workforce skills, increasing fishermen capacity, and adopting advanced technology to boost production and export performance. Efforts to enhance market access are supported through partnerships with offtakers, ensuring stable demand and higher economic value for local products. Successful export examples include 459 metric tons of durian sent to China and cocoa beans shipped to Japan under the Trans Karya Nusa program launched in 2025. The program also promotes investment in transmigration areas to generate employment, as seen in East Kalimantan, where South Korea’s LX International has pledged significant investment, potentially creating thousands of jobs. The ministry emphasized that such development must prioritize benefits for local communities while tailoring strategies to each region’s unique strengths.Source: https://en.antaranews.com/news/420939/indonesia-eyes-global-markets-for-transmigration-products?utm_source=antaranews&utm_medium=mobile&utm_campaign=latest_category (ICE GIACARTA)
