INDONESIA EASES PRIVATE INVESTMENT IN RORO LOGISTICS
Indonesia is removing barriers and cutting additional operational costs to attract private investment in roll‑on/roll‑off (RoRo) logistics shipping, Indonesia's Transportation Minister Dudy Purwagandhi announced during a media briefing. He emphasized that the government welcomes private participation in the sector as long as projects are commercially viable, noting that no subsidy scheme will be offered since logistics services must be managed based on market demand and company economics. Instead, the government is focused on streamlining licensing procedures and eliminating unnecessary costs to create a more favorable business climate. Dudy expressed confidence that expanding RoRo logistics services will strengthen Indonesia’s national logistics system by shifting freight transport from roads to sea routes, reducing congestion and costs. He added that state‑owned ASDP Indonesia Ferry has already begun planning RoRo container shipping services, while private companies are encouraged to invest based on their financial capacity. The minister highlighted that stronger demand and competitive shipping costs would make RoRo operations more attractive, ultimately improving efficiency and resilience in Indonesia’s logistics sector.Source: https://en.antaranews.com/news/420668/indonesia-eases-private-investment-in-roro-logistics?utm_source=antaranews&utm_medium=mobile&utm_campaign=latest_category (ICE GIACARTA)
