KEMENPERIN PROMOTES CIRCULAR ECONOMY WITH PALM OIL WASTE HANDICRAFT INITIATIVE

The Indonesian Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) is boosting the development of palm oil waste-based handicrafts to strengthen the national creative industry and support a sustainable circular economy. Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita highlighted that the sector drives regional economic growth and job creation, with Indonesia's handicraft exports hitting $165.27 million (approx. Rp2.97 trillion) in Q1 2026—a 4.08% year-on-year increase. To advance this, BSPJI Samarinda and the Palm Oil Plantation Fund Management Agency (BPDP) hosted a workshop in North Kalimantan from June 22–26, 2026. The training empowered 30 local artisans to transform palm oil waste and byproducts into high-value woven crafts and art paper, fostering regional welfare and eco-friendly business practices.Source: https://www.antaranews.com/berita/5622960/kemenperin-perkuat-pengembangan-industri-kerajinan-berbasis-sawit?page=all (ICE GIACARTA)
