INDONESIA DELAYS ELECTRIC MOTORCYCLE INCENTIVE LAUNCH UNTIL NEXT MONTH

The Indonesian government has postponed the rollout of incentives for electric motorcycle purchases, with discussions on the scheme expected to continue for another month. Coordinating Minister Airlangga Hartarto explained that more time is needed to finalize a proper implementation mechanism before launching the program. The incentive plan, initially announced in May, aims to support the adoption of electric vehicles, including both motorcycles and cars, though key details such as the structure and exact amount are still under review. The proposal, introduced by Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, targets 100,000 electric cars and 100,000 electric motorcycles in its first phase, with estimated incentives of around Rp5 million per motorcycle. The policy is driven by efforts to reduce fuel imports and mitigate rising energy costs, particularly amid global oil price pressures linked to ongoing geopolitical conflicts. Officials believe accelerating the shift to electric vehicles could help ease Indonesia’s reliance on imported fuel and strengthen energy resilience.Source: https://en.antaranews.com/news/420065/indonesia-delays-electric-motorcycle-incentive-launch-until-next-month (ICE GIACARTA)
