India's FSSAI has mandated a standardized green "Vegan" logo for all approved vegan food packages, effective July 1, 2027. This move aims to provide consumers with a clear, government-recognized mark, simplifying the identification of plant-based products and preventing misleading claims. The logo will help consumers confidently choose vegan options, distinguishing them from vegetarian products. The logo consists of a green square-framed symbol featuring a stylised “V” with a sprouting leaf, signifying that the product is certified vegan and free from animal-derived ingredients. Under an amendment notified on May 21, 2026, FSSAI has introduced a standard vegan logo and laid down specifications for its use on packaging. The requirement will become mandatory from July 1, 2027.
