Italy further reinforced its dominant position in the Ukrainian wine market during the first five months of 2026, with exports to Ukraine increasing by 7.18% year-on-year to €29.16 million. Italy accounted for 44.4% of Ukraine’s total wine imports, by far the largest share among all supplying countries.The strong performance of Italian wine comes despite a contraction in Ukraine’s overall wine imports. Between January and May 2026, Ukraine imported €65.68 million worth of wine, representing a decline of 2.18% compared to the same period in 2025.France remained the second-largest supplier, with exports slightly decreasing by 1.02% to €10.96 million, while still capturing a 16.68% market share. Spain followed with €8.25 million in exports (+4.07%; 12.57% market share), maintaining its third position. Georgia held a solid presence in the market, supplying €4.57 million worth of wine (-2.22%; 6.96% share).Among the fastest-growing suppliers, New Zealand increased shipments by 13.7% to €2.70 million (4.11% market share).By contrast, several traditional suppliers experienced declines. Imports from Germany fell by 13.62% to €2.61 million (3.98% market share), while Portugal decreased by 16.45% to €2.45 million (3.73%). Other exporters, including the United States, South Africa, Argentina, and Moldova, also recorded notable reductions in export volumes.Overall, the Ukrainian wine market in early 2026 continues to demonstrate resilient demand for imported wines, particularly premium European products.
