INDONESIA, KEY TO GLOBAL ENERGY TRANSITION: MINISTRY
Indonesia plays a strategic role in the global energy transition due to its position as a major producer of critical minerals such as nickel, tin, bauxite, copper, and iron. These resources are essential for modern clean energy technologies, including solar panels, wind turbines, electric vehicles, and energy storage systems. Key minerals like copper support electrification, while nickel, cobalt, and lithium are crucial for the rapidly growing battery industry. To maximize the benefits of its mineral wealth, Indonesia is focusing on developing downstream industries and extending its value chain beyond raw material extraction. The government promotes processing stages such as converting ores into intermediate products and eventually into finished goods like electric vehicles. With large reserves—especially nickel and tin—Indonesia aims to increase economic value and ensure sustainable resource management while strengthening its contribution to the global energy transition.Source: https://en.antaranews.com/news/419513/indonesia-key-to-global-energy-transition-ministry (ICE GIACARTA)
