EDB holds Kazakhstan 2026 GDP growth forecast at 5.5%The Eurasian Development Bank has kept its forecast for Kazakhstan's economic growth in 2026 at 5.5%, according to the bank's June macroeconomic review for Eurasian Economic Union member states published Monday.The EDB had also projected "confident" GDP growth of 5.5% in its December 2025 outlook."One of the key sources of GDP support will be expanding output in the manufacturing industry, alongside construction, transport and trade," the review said.The bank forecast inflation to ease to 9.7% by the end of 2026, citing tight monetary conditions, a stronger tenge and stabilizing consumer demand.EDB analysts expect the tenge to average 490 per U.S. dollar in 2026, supported by a high base rate and elevated oil prices.The World Bank, in its June global economic outlook, held its growth projections for Kazakhstan at 4.6% in 2026 and 3.9% in 2027.Kazakhstan's National Bank recently raised its 2026 GDP growth forecast to 4.5%-5.5%, up from an earlier estimate of 3.5%-4.5%, citing stronger actual economic activity and improved oil price conditions. The regulator projects GDP growth of 3.5%-4.5% in 2027-2028, shaped by more balanced domestic demand and lower oil prices over the medium term.Kazakhstan's economy grew 6.5% in 2025, up from 4.8% in 2024, according to the Ministry of National Economy.The official exchange rate on June 15 stood at 489.33 tenge per dollar.
