The Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry of Indonesia will allocate IDR 1.5 trillion (US$84.6 million) from its 2027 budget to support energy transition efforts, including converting gasoline motorcycles into electric vehicles and procuring electric stoves. About IDR 635.2 billion (US$35.8 million) will fund motorcycle conversions, while IDR 815.6 billion (US$48.8 million) will go toward electric stoves to reduce reliance on imported LPG, which costs Indonesia around IDR 120 trillion (US$6.8 billion) annually. The initiative is part of a broader plan to increase the share of non-fossil energy and explore alternatives such as compressed natural gas. The ministry’s total 2027 budget is IDR 27.34 trillion (US$1.5 billion), with 82% (IDR 22.48 trillion / US$1.23 billion) allocated to infrastructure and priority programs that directly benefit the public, while IDR 4.8 trillion (US$270 million) is reserved for operations.
